After more than 100 years of history making quality red wines, Viña Pomal has vinified its first white. With this launch, the Rioja brand returns to the best winemaking tradition in the region offering a white wine of great freshness and balance.

The new wine is made from the grapes of vineyards near the cellar in which all of these features are perfect for developing the finesse and aromatic expression of traditional varieties in the region with which this wine is produced: Viura and Malvasía.

Diego Pinilla, winemaker at Viña Pomal, says that “Bodegas Bilbainas had historically prepared white wines and wanted to recover this tradition because we have vineyards of very high quality. Viura provides the basis for this wine, giving it weight and subtlety, while the Malvasía brings freshness, vivaciousness and aromatic fragrances.”

Viña Pomal white 2012 is marketed exclusively for select hotels and specialist wine shops, as it is a very limited production. The second vintage —2013— came out in May.
