Siglo, a historic Rioja brand, celebrates the 75th anniversary of its Siglo Saco Crianza with the launch of a commemorative edition prepared by the Riojan designer David Catalán, who in September 2015 won the Mercedes Benz Fashion Talent award for best talent among emerging designers.

David Catalán, a promising young Spanish designer, took on the challenge of redesigning the iconic jute sacking sleeve of the Siglo Crianza. The sleeve was created by the Italian designer, Paolo Orsini in the 1940s and today has become the brand’s icon.

Catalán has opted for a design inspired by his land, Rioja, reflecting his particular vision of fashion and wine. This special edition presents a gradient of red hues, very much in keeping with the holiday season, and a pattern of geometric shapes which produce a relief effect.

Siglo Crianza would also like to celebrate its 75th anniversary with its consumers giving away 75 lots of wine for each year of its history plus trips to Rioja. The limited edition will be available in the online shop www.tiendaprb.com and large supermarkets.

Siglo is one of the historic Rioja brands. It is made at Bodegas AGE, which was founded in 1881. Siglo Crianza enjoys worldwide renown thanks to the sackcloth sleeve which protects the wine from light, sudden temperature changes and vibration. The bottles of Siglo Crianza are covered with the sack manually by the Rioja-based NGO, ASPRODEMA.

David Catalán is a young Riojan designer who is regarded as one of the leading promises in Spanish design. A few months after graduating from the La Rioja Higher School of Design in 2014, he won the prestigious Mercedes Benz Fashion Talent prize, which rewards the best talent among emerging designers participating in the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Madrid.
