Félix Azpilicueta Colección Privada 2009 and Félix Azpilicueta Colección Privada White 2013 were each awarded a Gold Medal in the latest edition of the renowned Catavinum World Wine & Spirits Competition 2015.
This success is, in addition to the numerous awards received by these two premium wines by Azpilicueta since they were first launched, confirming them as true Rioja benchmarks and backing the excellent work carried out by the brand’s team. In the words of the winemaker Elena Adell, «recognition serves to spur Azpilicueta to continue working with love for the wine and excellence as an objective, something that the brand has pursued from the start.»
Félix Azpilicueta Colección Privada Red 2009 is made with grapes of the traditional varieties of Rioja: Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo. Aged for 12 months in 100% French oak barrels, this wine is a deep red that anticipates a fragrant nose, where red fruit dominates, accompanied by the mild mineral, woody and spicy notes. Powerful, fresh and big in mouth; full of nuances.
Félix Azpilicueta Colección Privada White is made entirely with Viura —the most typical and widely-planted white grape variety in Rioja. The musts obtained were fermented in American oak barrels with extended yet light toasting. After alcoholic fermentation, part of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in the barrel. I is a highly complex, elegant wine that combines citrus, white flower and white fruit notes with pastry, toast and truffle aromas. A pale yellow, it is delicious in the mouth; very long and creamy.
