Torres is the only Spanish and European winery that has managed to lead the ranking, compiled by a panel of wine professionals from all over the world
Bodegas Torres has been voted – for the second consecutive year – ‘World’s Most Admired Wine Brand’ in the ranking produced annually by the leading British magazine Drinks International. The jury made up of more than 200 of the world’s top masters of wine, sommeliers, educators and journalists awarded Torres the highest distinction, thus leading the ranking of more than 50 brands from all over the world which the magazine defines as “…a pool of established names that have proven themselves to be consistent, respected global leaders.”
According to jury member Will Parker “Torres is a quality brand with a diversity of offerings in terms of style, price and origin and a strong family origin”.
Holly Motion, editor of the ‘World’s Most Admired Wine Brands’ says: “When branding relies so heavily on reassurance it is an even greater achievement to not only appear in this list but keep hold of a position in it.” Bodegas Torres has achieved this, being the number 1 in the 2014 and 2015 ranking and after having held the second position in the previous three years. Moreover Torres is the only Spanish and European winery having obtained this highest distinction so far.
In this year’s ranking Torres is followed by another Spanish winery Vega Sicilia, Penfolds from Australia, Villa Maria from New Zealand and Chateau d’Yquem from France who holds the 5th position. The countries with greater presence in the list are France with 13 wineries, followed by the US with 7 and Spain, Chile and Australia with 6 wineries each.
The ranking is elaborated on the basis of the opinions and perceptions of the jury members who were asked to base their three votes on the following criteria: the wine should be of consistent or improving quality, it should reflect its region or country of origin, it should respond to the needs and tastes of its target audience, it should be well marketed and packaged and the wine should have strong appeal to a wide demographic.
General Manager Miguel Torres Maczassek – 5th Generation of Torres – states: “Having been chosen ‘World’s Most Admired Wine Brand’ for the second consecutive year fills us with pride and satisfaction, and it is of course a recognition for all the work and effort of all our employees, distributors and the five generations of the family. All have contributed to the prestige of our brand and it being perceived as guarantee of quality all over the world». Moreover Miguel Torres Maczassek highlights: «Our commitment as the fifth generation, is to continue producing high quality wines that reflect even more the personality of each region and each vineyard, authentic wines and of great quality.»
