Benito Escudero, pioneer of Cava Riojan, with his manual plugger in 1950.

As in the case of so many business initiatives in the world of wine, the history of the five generations of the Escudero family dedicated to viticulture has represented a long road full of adventures and misadventures, joys and disappointments. "Many difficult moments of which we have always been strengthened thanks to passion, effort and constancy at work to get the project to move forward and fulfill the promise to offer all our clients the peace of mind of knowing that our wines, cavas, oils or vermou always offer the highest quality”, Says Amador Escudero, who took the reins of the family business in one of those difficult moments more than three decades ago.

It all started in 1852, the year in which Juan Escudero planted the first vineyards of the family without imagining that his descendants would end up turning that modest plantation into a winemaker business that since then has not stopped expanding horizons, both in the range of products -vines, sparkling, vermou… -, as in markets -exports to 45 countries -, always showing its vocation to reach the highest level of quality in its wines and to develop its specialization in sparkling wines. The protagonist of this specialization was Benito Escudero, who more than seventy years ago he got carried away by a dream and threw himself to the adventure of creating a foamy wine, but not before traveling and learning from the best in Catalonia and France, trying to apply everything learned in his small handmade cellar of graphs. The ‘Uncle Benito’, as his son Amador calls him affectionately, pioneered the variety of chardonnay, which he offers in the graphic area, 700 meters of altitude, fresh wines with very moderate graduation and very fine and elegant aromas, ideal for the elaboration of quality sparkling, such as those that carry their name ‘Benito Escudero’ and those that, in a higher range, They currently present with the ‘Dioro Baco’ brand. The subsequent introduction of the Pinot Noir grape has allowed them to elaborate a pink that stands out for their originality and exceptional quality.

Dioro Baco Brut Reserva is a high quality cava with intense aroma and great finesse on the palate, which is ideal to accompany the Christmas menus from beginning to end.

People attached to their land, the Escudero family demonstrate with its way of working the vineyard with sustainability criteria its commitment to the heritage received and with the next generations. With a view always put in the future, "We have combined tradition knowing about our parents and grandparents with research and the continuous development of new cultivation and elaboration techniques ”, Amaidor Escudero states. “From freedom of change, we face the adaptation to the needs of consumers, maintaining our commitment to quality
