Six years after carefully selecting and manually harvesting the grapes that define its personality, the 2010 vintage of one of Bodegas Sonsierra’s great wines finally goes on sale. This wine is only made when the harvest is of an exceptional quality, and the previous edition, the 2008 vintage, was acclaimed in numerous international competitions as one of the very best Tempranillo wines.

Sonsierra Gran Reserva 2010 is a wine that is inextricably linked to its terroir: a single variety made from Tempranillo grapes grown on old-growth vines of between 35 and 80 years old, which have been cultivated for generations by the vintners of the Sonsierra region. The vineyards, planted in the traditional goblet-trained system, are situated on the foothills of the Cantabrian Mountains, a fresh, Atlantic-influenced area that blesses our grapes with special qualities. Our vineyards sit at between 525 and 770 metres above sea level, the maximum altitude for Tempranillo grapes.

Sonsierra Gran Reserva 2010 is a strong, elegant wine with great aromatic complexity, featuring hints of ripe fruits and raisins that hark back to the old-growth vines of its origin. These combine perfectly with the delicate fragrances of cocoa and cream and the toasted, balsamic notes developed during the wine’s long aging in the barrel and bottle. Voluminous and well-structured in the mouth, with strong, sweet tannins that give the wine a long, silky, enveloping finish

Ready to drink now or to enjoy over the next 10 to 12 years, provided it is kept at an optimum temperature and humidity level.
