The world of wine to Sips
Text: Antonio Egido

What are we going to do? He has given me for poetry related to the world of wine and in this week of July, I have asked the search engine to give me some poems related to this drink.

And the first result, with which I stay, has taken me to ‘Vinascutanda.com’ where we can read that “the wine has been linked historically, like other aspects of life, with romanticism. A romantic evening evokes us in our mind a succulent dinner in the light of candles with a good bottle of wine accompanying the diners.

(…) We have taken a tour of universal literature to bring you the 10 most beautiful poems related to wine.

So our recommendation is that you enjoy this reading with good music-the jazz style can come that neither to the hair-and of course, a good glass of wine that you will savor slowly, enjoying the Trinomial pairing wine-poesia-jazz.

(…) Legendary authors such as Pablo Neruda, Rosalía de Castro, José Luis Borges ... They imagined and dreamed with the wine, giving their fruit in unforgettable verses.

Pablo Neruda and his "Ode to Wine"

One of the most beautiful poetry about wine is the "Ode to Wine" that the Chilean poet wrote Nobel Literature Award. Some of the lines we highlight:

The wine
Move spring,
The joy grows like a plant,
Walls fall,
Peñascos,
Abisms close,
The song is born.

Charles Baudelaire and "The soul of wine"

The Bohemian Poet Baudelaire, one of the most prominent figures in French literature, also wrote a wonderful poem on wine, entitled "The soul of wine". Attention to these verses:

I will illuminate the eyes of your wife taken;
I will return your strength and mood to return
And I will be for that fragile athlete of life
The ointment that strengthens the muscles of the fighters.

Li po (li bai): "While I drink in the moonlight"

Li po was a very prominent Chinese poet in the Tang dynasty, known as "the immortal poet." Perhaps it is the oldest of all the writers to whom we reference in the list, since it lived between the 701 and 762. Here a fragment of the poem while I drink in the moonlight:

A glass of wine between the flowers:
I drink alone, without a friend to accompany me
I lift the glass and invite the moon:
With her and with my shadow we will be three.

José Luis Borges: "Soneto del Vino"

One of the most prominent authors of the twentieth century, the Argentine Borges, also dedicated some lines to wine in his poem "Soneto del Vino". From this, with a single phrase we can highlight the strength of its lines:

Wine, teach me the art of seeing my own story

José Ángel Buesa, "Brindis"

If Li po is known as "the immortal poet", José Ángel Buesa is known as "the poet in love." His melancholic poetry also had wine as a muse in the poem "toast"

When drinking, drop by drop, floating petals
I will rub my lips, as lover lips;
And, in his flame or his snow of identical destiny,
They will be like ghosts of kisses in wine.

Without a doubt this is a compilation of the 5 most beautiful poems about wine, although there are many more, and as they say: "Beauty resides in the eyes of the one who looks" in the case of poetry, to judge it, perhaps it is not the eyes that intervene, but the soul itself. "

Final point to this section, today loaded with poetry. Enjoy it with a glass of quality wine in the hand, if possible a cold rinky given the heat that is doing today in this summer of 2021.
