María José Huertas Vega, from the Paco Roncero restaurant, is located in the first position of the Top 100 Sommeliers Spain ranking that occurred on May 27 in Madrid. The ranking was launched in the United Kingdom in May 2023 and, after its recognition and popularity among wine professionals in the hospitality sector, the organizers have associated with the renowned Spanish sommelier Agustín Trapero to take the initiative to Spain. "The arrival of the Top 100 Sommeliers to Spain, is a great news for the Sumillery sector in this country, since the value and recognition of the Spanish sommeliers will be given and their transparency, professionalism and achievements in their careers will be honored," explains Trapero.
The second position of the Top 100 has been for Diego González) best sommelier Spain UAES 2019) of liquid times, Bugos and the third for David Robledo, Sommelier Teacher and Gastronomic Consultant.
This annual classification is not based only on the profile of an individual or the size of its wine letter, but is described according to a combination of factors, becoming an integral validation of the responsibilities, experience and praise of each sommelier. The jury has been chaired by Trapero himself, and composed of the sommelier Valeria Gamper (Sixth in the last championship of the world of sumillery) and the Masters of Wine Almudena Alberca, Pedro Ballesteros and Andreas Kubach.
