Wine for Christmas
As a pioneer of Rioja “estate wines”, which came to fame at the beginning of the 20th century, Monte Real embodies the authentic character of a Rioja Tempranillo and the singularity of the vineyard from which the grapes are harvested – namely a selection of plots at the area known as “El Monte”. The winemaking technique employed using native yeasts followed by aging in medium plus toast American oak casks for 36 months, determines the powerful, well-structured profile of Gran Reserva Monte Real while also endowing it with great finesse and elegance. As the head of the tasting panel, Michael Schachner, wrote in the report published by Wine Enthusiast, this is “definitely an exceptional wine in the “laying down” category, to be enjoyed now or in 2030”.
